I've been looking for a shelving unit of some sort to fit in a pretty big niche in my family room. What we have there now has worked fine over the last several years, but we recently replaced the tv with a larger one and it no longer fits into the space between the two towers. We've pushed it into the space as far back as it would successfully go, but now it blocks the drawers and cabinet from opening.
I went onto CL hoping to find something that I could work with. I found a set of 3 bookshelves. These were the ad photos. They were going for $10 each. I bought these two.
I didn't buy this one, but I easily regret a lot of my decisions and kinda wish that I had bought this one too, just-in-case-I-needed-it! Anyway...
The width of the two I did buy, along with a dresser that I currently have and plan to place between the two bookshelves) will total the full length of the niche. PERFECT so far!!!
Here they are in my garage.
It wasn't until I got them home that I noticed this...a warped top.
No problem though. I was planning to place a long board on the top to create more of an entertainment center. Kinda like how Centsational Girl did hers.
This is what's currently in the space. Nevermind the clutter. Once I decided that I was going to change
it out, I stopped keeping it organized (I know, bad excuse).

Should I paint them black or white? I plan to paint both my kitchen cabinets and the fireplace mantel white, so that would support the white decision. Also, the dresser I plan to also use is currently black. Keeping things black will make for less of a paint job, but white is so fresh and bright.
Maybe something like this...
Now, for a pet peeve that I'm just going to have to get over...
If you noticed, the two bookshelves are not same width. That means, the tv is going to totally be
off-centered. I have issues with things that are not even or symmetrical sometimes, so I don't know how I'm going to manage living with it this way. *sigh*
Well have to see...
Redo coming soon...
